The developers Conwy Adventure Leisure have also revealed they will invest £7.7m in the site, committing £6.2m in cash and a further £1.5m through additional equity.
The project will bring the UK’s first inland surfing destination to fruition. The development will provide family focused enjoyment for day-trippers, overnighters, families, beginners and experts alike.
The site will also feature a 50 metre long café, restaurant and bar positioned immediately alongside the surfing lagoon, whose glass front will allow visitors to watch the surfing action. There will also be accommodation available.
Earth works will start on the site in February 2014, and it’s intended the project will open in Easter 2015.
CAL will also contribute £40,000 to a new village playground in Dolgarrog.
As well as creating 60 new jobs, the developers say a further 100 construction jobs will be created by the build period.
