The inflatable rescue boat stolen from Nobbys
Surf Life Saving Club earlier this week has been found, heavily damaged,
after being dumped under Hexham Bridge.
The boat was discovered on Saturday morning after two local fisherman stumbled upon it on the edge of the Hunter river.
The
pair, whilst walking along the bank, spotted an outboard motor sticking
out from the bushes. Upon further inspection it was discovered that the
motor was labelled 'Nobbys Surf Life Saving Club', despite the best
efforts of the thieves to scratch the information off.
Next
to the motor, they also found the hull, lying under a pile of twigs,
beer bottles, bushes, and branches cut up to camouflage it.
After
getting on Facebook, and seeing that Nobbys SLSC had reported their
rescue boat as stolen, the two walked into the surf club around 2pm
Saturday to inform the club of the discovery.

retrieving the $16,000 boat, surf club officials found that
